The Unsung Heroes of the Changhua Plain: A Brief Introduction -
Liao Chih-ming (1950-)
Liao registered as the canvasser of Wong Chin-chu in 1981. Since he was often spied on by the Taiwan Garrison Command after taking part in democratic movements, he quit his job as a lathe machinist and turned to selling pro-democracy magazines and taking part in speaking tours. However, he found himself frequently thwarted and confronted with more confiscations. In 1987, when he was at the rally in front of the Changhua County Hall to demand the truth of the February 28 Incident, he was surrounded by the riot police and injured by police batons.
