The Unsung Heroes of the Changhua Plain: A Brief Introduction -
Wang-Cheng Chin-hua (1921-2017)
After the February 28 Incident, Wang-Cheng was extremely offended by the frequent “check-ups” of households by the police, as well as the compulsory acquisition of her family’s farmland. During her fight for land and property rights, Wang-Cheng gradually became the key figure of Taiwan Farmers' Rights Association. As fearless activist who faced the water cannons during protests of the May 20 Peasant Movement, her grocery store near the Choshui River had been regarded as a center for exchanging different ideas about Taiwan’s democracy.
