The Unsung Heroes of the Changhua Plain: A Brief Introduction -

Huang Pan-chu (1939-)

Huang often witnessed various forms of electoral fraud by the KMT and local farmers' association when he was young, including vote-buying and exchanging ballot boxes by turning off lights. He thus became an enthusiastic street protest advocate after the DPP was founded, leaving all the farm work to his wife. Now a retiree living near the old Taiwan Sugar Railways, Huang spends each day looking forward to the coming of his old comrades. If they do come, he’ll make some tea and invite them to his “democracy forum.”
