The Unsung Heroes of the Changhua Plain: A Brief Introduction -

Wei Tung-pao (1938-1993)

Wei was an enthusiastic advocate of Taiwan’s democratic movements, to the extent of giving speeches when he was put on an intravenous drip. His wife, an industrious vendor selling zongzi for a living, was in full support of her husband; however, due to the lack of parental care, his son became a Buddhist monk after he was discharged from the military service. Fortunately, with a recording of his own last words, Wei persuaded the young man to resume his secular life by getting married and raising children.
