Changhua residents stand up to KMT's Blacklist policy and support the overseas Taiwanese dissidents who could not return home due to their political stances. When the pro-independence activists Huang hua and Cheng Nan-jung organized the New Nation Movement in 1988, people from Changhua were often seen in its speaking tour or demonstrations around Taiwan.
